Response to Autumn Budget 2017

The Association’s response to the Chancellor’s 2017 Autumn Budget delivered earlier today.

Kathy Roberts, Chief Executive of Association of Mental Health Providers, commented:

“Whilst we welcome the announcement of £2.8bn in funding for the NHS and £28m for Kensington and Chelsea Council to deliver mental health support and other services for Grenfell survivors, we are disappointed that the series of announcements otherwise lacked details on a budget for mental health services specifically. and provided no intention of ring-fencing mental health funding.

“Additional funding for the NHS is positive news however this still falls short of the £4bn Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, suggested was needed in 2018/19. It is vital that the investment being made is used effectively and for mental health funding to be ring-fenced.”
