Successful First Round of Grants Awarded in Mental Health Sustainability Programme

The Association of Mental Health Providers is pleased to announce the first round of grants from the Mental Health Sustainability Fund have been administered; and we are thrilled to be awarding 34 organisations a share of approximately £103,500.

These successful organisations demonstrated that they would use the money to contribute to their sustainability and were supporting groups of individuals who had been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. They are supporting upwards of 150,000 vulnerable people, families and communities every year, whilst their organisations are under intense resource, infrastructure and financial pressure. This funding will provide for a range of mental health and essential services including for vulnerable children and young people, schools, families impacted by addiction, pregnant and new mums, the elderly, and those from Black and Minority Ethnic communities.

Many of these successful organisations will be using these funds to digitise their services and ensure that they are able to continue for as long as needed online, whilst still reaching and supporting their beneficiaries in a way that is responsive. We were encouraged to see people requesting funds for appropriate Employee Assistance Programmes to ensure their workforce was supported throughout the pandemic and beyond – and the Programme itself looks forward to expanding it’s offer in this same holistic direction soon.

We received over 200 applications and whilst we could not financially meet all requests, our Programme team are now undertaking work to connect those other organisations whom were eligible with support needs through the multi-faceted Programme we run. A number of these organisations could be better supported by matching them with a private sector volunteer in the relevant business area – and they will form the organisations welcomed into our second cohort through the Minutes side of the Programme. Moreover, we have signposted these organisations to training opportunities regarding their enterprise model, connected them with training subsidised by our coalition partners and more.

We look forward to being led by the needs identified by these organisations and others as we open our Programme back up later in the year.
