Steve Appleton

Steve Appleton is the Managing Director of Contact Consulting, a specialist consultancy and research practice working at the intersection of health, housing and social care. He originally qualified as a social worker and having undertaken a range of roles in local authorities, went on to work at a senior level in the NHS.

His work concentrates on the needs of people with mental health problems, substance misuse, learning disability, older people and offender health. He is the author of a range of national guidance and best practice documents, and has played a leading role in recent population based Thrive mental health initiatives in the UK.

Steve is the UK Liaison for the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership and co-ordinates their work in the UK while working closely with colleagues in Europe, the USA and Australasia.

In his spare time Steve is a keen follower of Formula One and historic motor racing.
