Monitoring the Mental Health Act: 2015 to 2016
From: Care Quality Commission
This report looks at how providers are applying standards or responding to the changes in the revised Mental Health Act Code of Practice.
We highlight our concerns that patients are not receiving the support they need to be involved in their care and that some staff are not following the revised Code of Practice.
We also call on local services to show stronger leadership in the way they train their staff to implement the Code, commissioners to consider the best approach to provide services for patients, and that the Department of Health and national agencies should work together to focus on early intervention to reduce detention rates.
