Webinar with Birmingham Mind – Peer Mentors
Webinar Date: Friday 7 July 2017
Delivered by: Stephen Sanger
Birmingham Mind is the largest independent mental health charity providing services in and beyond the City of Birmingham’s boundaries. In 2016 Birmingham Mind undertook some research which followed a number of people with historical complex needs into employment. This research was then used in Autumn 2016 by Birmingham Mind as it began to recruit 8 Peer Mentors to work as (equally) paid team members supporting people in their recovery journeys. In this webinar, Birmingham Mind Operations Manager Stephen Sanger will explain how an existing support service was remodelled to build in properly paid Peer Mentors, and what has been learnt along the way as well as the original research. Stephen will explain how Peer Mentors were recruited, what has worked well, and what didn’t work along the way.
